About this website: On the 26th and 27th of November 2009, a group of people came together at the Crescent Theatre in Birmingham to begin to answer the question "How do we create a better future for theatre, here, in the West Midlands". This website holds the notes from the sessions held over those two days, and allows anyone (whether they were present at the event or not) to continue the conversations from the event. How do we build around the advocacy of bodies like ACE and DCMS and Campaign For The Arts to increase the voice for the pressure we need to INSIST that the arts are central and crucial. What can the region do more of across all aspects of theatre making to make a lead for other regions – building based, independent theatre makers have to put their heads together –

Also need to galvanise a present time focus on the Lottery, it’s there and ring fenced so drive forward a concerted effort to protect that from any future ideas of pilfering or dismantling
