The collapse of public funding. Who is going to fund non building based theatre?

Convenor:
Polly Wright
Attendees:
Ed Collier/ Pippa Frith/ John Moreley/ Alison Gagen/ Chris O’Connell/John Moreton
Description:

Sense not the first time we’ve seen pressure on funding

Ability to adapt to climate-does this compromise artistic vision?

Business models- will this lead to self sustainability?

Is it just our personal choice to commit to an insecure, creative life? Should we just put up with it?

Funding organizations like PCTs, NHS etc are being cut. Commitment to the arts is the first to go?

Ongoing moaning won’t make it better

Suggest that we make partnerships with organisations eg- HE/ Mental Health Trusts to make applications to other bodies eg Wellcome Trust.

Video gaming is growing- can we make a creative contribution?

How do we close the gaps between commercial and public funding?

Let’s consider making more commercially viable work

Should we adopt the US model and court business and charitable sector funding more than we do?
